Sharing Hope · In-Person Support Group

Come sit with us, in person.

A free, confidential support group for mothers across Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia counties navigating the weight of perinatal mental health. Conducted in Spanish with Jannette Orozco. Open to mothers ages 15 to 100.

For mothers in our community

Some grief, some fear, some quiet — belongs in a room.

Anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, isolation after a loss, the kind of postpartum heaviness that doesn't have a name — these are the things many mothers carry without saying out loud. Our virtual group reaches across the state. This one is for mothers who would rather sit in the same room, hand a tissue across the table, hear another voice in the air instead of on a screen.

This group is for you whether your baby is six weeks old or your loss was twenty years ago. It is for first-time mothers, grandmothers, daughters, stepmothers. It is held in Spanish by Jannette Orozco. There is no fee, no insurance form, no judgment, and no expectation that you have anything figured out before you arrive.

What to expect

A small room, a soft hour.

Our in-person Sharing Hope group keeps a tight circle on purpose. Like our virtual group, attendance is capped to protect the depth of conversation — small enough that every mother who wants to speak has time, quiet enough that the ones who came to listen can.

Jannette opens each gathering with a brief grounding, then turns the floor over to the room. Sharing is invited, never required. We close with a few minutes of resource handoff — referrals to therapy, doulas, lactation, Care After Delivery at UNM Hospital or Lovelace, intake for our follow-up program — whatever a mother needs next.

Bring a water bottle, a tissue, and anything that helps you feel steady. Children and infants stay home so mothers can be fully present with themselves. Partners and support people are welcome at intake but not in the circle.

How to join

Three steps, at your pace.

Every mother who joins us starts with a short intake conversation. It is how we keep the circle safe and make sure the right kind of support is waiting for you.

02

Intake conversation

A short, gentle check-in by phone or video — what you're carrying, what you're looking for, whether this group is the right fit or whether something else (one-to-one referral, therapy, doula support) would serve you better.

03

Arrive when you can

Come to the next gathering when you feel ready. Two weeks after your first session, we follow up to see how you are. You decide whether to come back, take a break, or move into another part of our care.

01

Spanish-language sessions

Held in Spanish by Jannette Orozco. Dates are scheduled in advance and announced on our Events page so mothers can plan around childcare, work, and transportation.

02

Two-week follow-up

Every first-time attendee receives a personal check-in from our team two weeks after their first session — by phone, text, or email, whichever feels easiest.

03

Year-round support

Between in-person gatherings, our virtual Sharing Hope group meets regularly and is capped at nine mothers for safety. New sessions open throughout the year.

We note that this page uses the words "mother" and "women." This is not intended to be exclusionary — we welcome all caregivers and birthing people, including partners, grandparents, and non-birthing parents, into our wider care.

Looking for something different?

Our virtual group meets statewide.

If Albuquerque isn't reachable for you, or if Spanish isn't your first language, our virtual Sharing Hope group runs year-round, in English, capped at nine mothers for safety. Same intake, same care, same circle — held on a screen.
