Stand alongside us.

Kassy's Kause is a small, founder-led nonprofit holding space for New Mexico families through pregnancy, infant loss, and maternal mental health. Every hand that joins us extends what we can carry.

A note from our founder

Every hand matters here.

We are a small organization with a wide reach. Since losing my daughter Kassy in 2015, our work has grown to serve mothers and families across Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia counties — and virtually, well beyond. We operate without a paid staff, on the willingness of people who decide that no mother in our state should walk through this alone.

Whether you have an afternoon a month, a skill to share, or a business looking to back our gala or our annual Maternal Mental Health Summit, your time and presence shape what we are able to offer the families who reach for us.

— Susan Aguayo, Founder & President

Three ways to help

Choose how you show up.

Volunteer roles

Where we need hands.

Kassy's Kause is a listed agency on One Albuquerque Volunteers, the City of Albuquerque's volunteer portal. Roles are flexible, trauma-informed, and shaped around what you can sustainably give.

01

Support group facilitation

Hold space alongside a lead facilitator for our weekly Pregnancy & Infant Loss group or our virtual support group (capped at 9 for safety). Training and mentorship provided. Bilingual Spanish/English speakers especially needed.

02

Event & outreach support

Help us run the annual Maternal Mental Health Summit (next: 2026), our fundraiser car show, and community outreach tables at hospitals, fairs, and resource events across Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia counties.

03

Administrative & behind-the-scenes

Intake follow-ups, mailings, newsletter, social media, translation, grant research, and the quiet work that keeps a volunteer-run nonprofit running. Remote and in-person options.

04

Documentary & education

Help screen Kassy's Hope / My Life 4 Yours for medical residents, social workers, and home-visiting programs. Coordinate with universities, hospitals, and training programs interested in using the film.

05

Clinical & professional referrals

If you are a doula, lactation consultant, therapist, or perinatal clinician open to taking referrals, we'd love to add you to our trusted network. We work closely with UNM Hospital and Lovelace Health System on referral pathways.

06

Lived-experience storytellers

If you have walked through perinatal loss or a maternal mental health crisis and feel called to share your story — at the Summit, on our podcast partners, or in our community — we welcome that voice with care.

Become a partner organization

For clinics, faith communities, and nonprofits.

We collaborate with hospitals, perinatal clinicians, doulas, mental health practices, churches, schools, and fellow nonprofits to make sure no mother in crisis falls through the gaps between systems.

Current partners and institutional collaborators include Postpartum Support International, the Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health, American Mothers, Mommas Voices, UNM Hospital, and Lovelace Health System. Our founder serves as PSI's New Mexico Coordinator.

If your organization wants to build a referral pathway, co-host community education, distribute our resources in Spanish and English, or screen Kassy's Hope for staff training — we want to hear from you.
