New Mexico nonprofit · since 2015

You are not alone in your grief.

Kassy's Kause walks alongside mothers and families through perinatal depression, pregnancy loss, and infant loss. Every program is free. We speak Spanish.

Who we are

A New Mexico family walking alongside other families.

Kassy's Kause is a founder-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Bernalillo, Sandoval, and Valencia counties since 2015. We hold space for mothers in the worst week of their lives, host a weekly Pregnancy & Infant Loss support group, run intake assessments with two-week follow-ups, and convene the annual Maternal Mental Health Summit.

Every service is free of charge, available in English and Spanish, and open to anyone ages 15 to 100 — all races, all genders, all faiths.

Our founding moment

For Kassy.

On March 22, 2015, Susan Aguayo lost her twenty-one-year-old daughter Kassy. Kassy was four months pregnant, recently married, and had no history of depression. The signs of perinatal depression — the insomnia, the bloody noses, the scattered emotions — had been there. No one had named them for her.

Kassy's Kause grew out of that silence. Susan founded the organization later that same year so that no other mother in New Mexico would have to wonder why she didn't feel the way pregnant women are "supposed" to feel.
